Hi, we are Karen and Abbey!
We are looking forward to welcoming you aboard Bessie, our big and beautiful red double decker bus!
We are both hard working, conscientious business women who intend to have fun, fun, fun every single day of our lives!!!
We both LOVE to party and feel complete joy when passengers are having a good time - if you're happy... we're happy too!!!
So come on! ...Climb aboard, sit back and let us sort the driving, food, drinks and music... how could a party be any easier?! We will have all the clearing up covered too!!!
About the bus
"Bessie"
Bristol vrt SL3/6LXB 1980Bessie started her life at the factory, Eastern Coachworks in Lowestoft in 1980, from there she was delivered to United Counties Omnibus Company Ltd. in Bury Park Luton in green livery.
After many years working for them she was then transferred to Luton District Transport in red and white livery until being bought out by Arriva in 1998 and then painted blue and yellow sporting promotional advertising for Vodafone. Evidence of previous owners livery could be clearly seen when she was rubbed down and repainted by us in August 2009.
2 years later she was retired from service and moved to Kent to a coach dealer to be sold on.
She was then taken on by M & E Garages where she was yet again repainted in green and used as a school bus in Shoeburyness until being retired from service in March of 2008 with a serious gearbox leak.
After changing hands yet again back in Luton she was then bought by our good friend Mr Mark Peak from Boston Lincolnshire who on our behalf then repaired the gearbox and other problems, he had her MOT'd and then it was all aboard her as she took us for fish and chips on Skegness seafront before preparing her for her longest and most memorable journey eve, by sea and land, to arrive here in Spain complete with 11 passengers partying all the way (what a road trip that was, sign me up for the next one please).
The strong old 10 litre Gardner engine suffering no oil or water loss on the trip, it was now down to the hard work of converting her to what you see today in high summer temperatures of up to 42 degrees, putting in a new floor and rebuilding the engine due to a slack cam chain (thanks to www.gardnermarinediesels.com) for sending the parts to Spain the engine is now running sweetly. It was now time to fit the Bar, Fryer, Fridge and a toilet on board carefully planning the kitchen for optimum use of space hampered by the large wheel arches at the rear, with everyone involved happy the cupboards were then installed.
Then in late August 2009, time to party was upon us! Thanks to all involved in making this happen for us including of course the trippers and the tryers you now who you are!!! ;-)
THANKS
FROM BESSIE THE BRISLOL BUS
